Leadership Lessons from Star Wars - my top 3

Johan Merican, CEO of TalentCorp spoke at a HR Conference by Malaysia's 100 Top Leading Graduate Employers 2012. He brought up some similarities of leadership/management skills portrayed in movies like Star Wars and Harry Potter. (Oh so geeky! but cool! )This of course sets me off in a reading frenzy correlating movies and leadership skills.

Here are my top 3 favourite lessons taken from Star Wars
 
1. Do not make self centered decisions which benefits only yourself. - "Be vigilant in your leadership and make sure the choices you are making will benefit others. Do not let your leadership skills lead you to the dark side."

2. You are not the hero, but your Padawan may be. - Just like Yoda, you make not be the hero but you are the driving force behind your team. Great leaders focus on the future. Build your wisdom, experience and knowledge into others. So, take pride when your Padawan (mentees) succeed too. 

3. If you're not careful, you may produce a Darth Vader.
This... i don't think i have the capabilities to do so yet!
